Legal
Consent & Confidentiality
What you say in therapy stays in therapy — with a small number of clearly defined exceptions that exist to keep people safe.
Working draft for the practice’s legal review.
What confidentiality means here
The content of your sessions is private. We do not discuss it with your family or your employer without your agreement.
The limits
A clinician may need to act where there is a serious and imminent risk to life, where a child or vulnerable person is at risk, or where required by law. These are the only exceptions, and we go through them with you before you start.
Young people
For clients under 18, we agree at the start what is shared with a parent or guardian and what stays between the young person and their therapist. Everyone hears the same version of that agreement.
Your consent
Before your first session we take you through an informed-consent conversation. You can withdraw consent at any time, and doing so will never affect how you are treated.
If you train with us, confidentiality runs the other way too
Everyone on a training or mentorship programme takes on the same duty the clinicians here carry. Case material discussed in a session belongs to the person it is about, not to the room.
- Keep confidential any personal information, case material, discussion, or assessment data you encounter on the programme.
- Do not record a session, and do not reproduce, circulate or post session content, case material or assessment content anywhere — including in a study group or a private chat — without written permission from Insightio.
This is not an administrative rule. Assessment content loses its validity once it circulates, and a person who agreed to their case being used for teaching did not agree to it being used anywhere else.
None of this replaces urgent help. If you need someone right now, see Crisis Support — those lines are free and open 24×7.
